This is a popular adage from William Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet, in which Juliet seems to argue that it does not matter that Romeo is from her family’s rival house of Montague … Yet names have great significance when it comes to understanding who God is, His Plan and His Purpose for Creation.

This is the book of the genealogy of Adam. In the day that God created man, He made him in the likeness of God. He created them male and female, and blessed them and called them Mankind in the day they were created – Genesis 5:1-2

God created both male and female in the image of God, “Equal” in the capacity to love,  understand and honor Him in their being but “Different” in their physical form and in the role they are given on earth to bring Him glory.  Man and woman, Husband and Wife joined in marriage are designed to “Complete” and “Compliment” one another in proclaiming the Glory of God.  Marriage between a man and wife, the TWO become One, is a wonderful mystery that is ultimately Manifested and REVEALED in the Bride of Christ … God’s Spiritual BODY of Believers who claim Jesus as their Savior from SIN (men, woman, of all colors and creeds).

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths. – Proverbs 3:5-6

God tells us to Trust Him, not our SIN – Self Indulgent.  Therefore, husband and wife are to both “Trust in the Lord and His promise for them”, the husband is to provide the vision from God for their relationship and the wife is to provide the help toward the vision.  However, because of SIN, the husband’s desire is to build a career and name for himself and the wife’s desire is similar, to pursue worldly goals but it’s also to remind him and measure him against these goals, which is to rule over him in a “Confrontational and Conflicting” relationship.

The potential of marriage and family pursued the “right way” in Christ, has great reward, peace and joy … and this is why it is under attack by the world, the flesh and the Devil … and this is why it is so difficult to abide and thrive in a Godly marriage because marriage is under attack by the world, the flesh and the Devil.  The point is that God has created TWO genders, Male and Female, each equally perfect in creation and each with different roles that by abiding in God are EMPOWERED by God to fulfill His purpose and satisfy your deepest desire.  

BTW, I think it is the creation of “woman” that caused Satan to SIN because he was jealous of “Eve” who was different from all other of God’s creations.  Satan just couldn’t comprehend and understand why God created mankind in such a “puny” state of capability and appearance, in comparison to his glory and capabilities.  And Satan couldn’t comprehend this special man/woman relationship that God was manifested in these puny people in the Garden, especially this “woman” who made Adam so happy and complete … so perhaps Satan rebelled because he didn’t have a bride? 

Perhaps, Satan knew that it was God’s plan to ABIDE and TRANSFORM these puny humans into “Bride of Christ” which would ultimately surpass his position before God.  And like the EVIL Queen who envied Snow White “Mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all?” … Satan didn’t understand that beauty and significance in God’s economy is not about appearance and capabilities but in TRUSTING the Lord with all your HEART and leaning NOT on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5).

Our Father, who art in heaven,

on earth as it is in heaven.

as we forgive those who trespass against us.

The point is that one of God’s name is “Father” – (the first person of the Godhead Trinity) because the primary need of a person is for “direction” for their life, which is the father’s role.  God is also “comforting” and “nurturing” like a Mother but you must FIRST acknowledge the TRUTH of your SIN and REPENT of it before God can SAVE you (by belief in the 2nd person of the Godhead – Jesus) and then you can be comforted and nurtured the “Holy Spirit” – (the 3rd person of the Godhead).  

Isn’t it interesting that God allows Adam to name all the other creatures except the creature type of “man and woman” and their name, Adam and Eve, which was given to them by God.  Adam means “clay” because he was formed from the earth and Eve means “the living” because she was taken from the living Adam’s side and brings forth life in birth.

The name Eve comes from the Hebrew word chavâh, which means “the living” or “life.” She was called “Eve” because she was the mother of all living (Genesis 3:20). God created her after allowing Adam to see that he did not have among the animals a suitable companion—that is, there was no other creature like himself. So God created Eve as Adam’s counterpart. Eve was made in God’s image, just as Adam was (Genesis 1:27).

God revealed His name to Moses “LORD = YHVH” while Moses marveled at the burning bush that was not consumed when He met God on top of Mt Sinia.
