Tyler Gaulden, the pastor from the Church Street Baptist Church in Greensboro, North Carolina is asking Christians everywhere today, Tuesday, 9/11 to fast and pray from 6 am to 6 pm for God’s mercy concerning Hurricane Florence. 

There have been times when God’s people have believed God can do the impossible and He has done it.  Ask God to turn this storm out to sea and dissipate it’s power.  With God nothing is impossible if you ask in the name of Jesus and do not doubt.  The stories of the Bible are either things we tell our children like fairy tales or they are things that spur our faith to believe in the God of the impossible!  Join in prayer that God will do the impossible.

Matthew 6: 16 “Whenever you fast, do not put on a gloomy face as the hypocrites do, for they neglect their appearance so that they will be noticed by men when they are fasting. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.17“ But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face 18 so that your fasting will not be noticed by men, but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.   

Pray for America!   Time is short as the Day of the Lord is approaching.

The America of the past that was Blessed by God

As I pointed out before, I believe God raised up this nation with the purpose of using our great natural resources and technical ingenuity to spread the Gospel all over the world.

As we fulfilled His purpose, He poured out blessings upon us — blessings like unparalleled freedom and prosperity and immense power, worldwide influence and — the greatest blessing of all — sharing the Gospel with the world. He even gave us the blessing of serving as the key nation in the re-birthing and nurturing of the nation of Israel.

The America of today that is under the judgement of God

The Almighty Dollar became our god.
Greed became our motivator.
Gambling became a national pastime.
Sex became our obsession.
We became the world’s largest consumer of illegal drugs.
We kicked God out of our schools.
We legalized abortion.
We endorsed moral perversion.
And we became the moral polluter of planet earth through our violent, immoral and blasphemous movies and television programs.

A Temporary Respite

It is true that in His grace and mercy, God has given us a temporary respite — a window of grace through the miraculous election of Donald Trump in 2016.

Incidentally, I believe the crucial factor in producing that miracle was Franklin Graham’s prayer crusade that he took to every state capital in our nation. At each stop, he began his presentation with the same words:

“I have no hope in the Democratic Party, and I have no hope in the Republican Party. Zero hope. Our only hope is God.” And he proceeded to call our nation to prayer and repentance.

Our Hope

Is there any hope that America will be revived to the moral standing that it once enjoyed as “One Nation under God?”   I do not believe so.  However, this is not a “Doom and Gloom” forecast but a realistic view of America and the rest of the world as viewed through the lens of Bible prophecy.  

What we are experiencing is a fulfillment of end time prophecy. The biblical prophets, including Jesus Himself, all prophesied that in the end times society would disintegrate into violence and immorality — that it would become as evil as in the days of Noah, and that people would go about their business as if everything was normal.

That is exactly where we are today. And thus, we are witnesses to the very signs that are heralding the soon return of Jesus, that begins first with the rapture of the Church (Maranatha!) and then seven years of Tribulation, followed by 1,000 years of Kingdom ruled by Jesus.  

Our hope is in the Lord who delivers those who put their trust in Him, just like He delivered Noah and his family from the judgement of the flood.  God always delivers His children.  He delivers His children “in” the storm (by removing the storm) or He delivers His children “from” the storm (by giving them escape from the storm) or He delivers His children “through” the storm (by making them strong to stand in the storm in Jesus name).   

The storm of the Apocalypse end times is not going away, therefore we must pray to be found trusting Jesus so we will escape in the rapture.  And we must be beacons of hope, pointing people to salvation in the Blessed Hope — Jesus, the Son of God and the soon returning King of kings and Lord of lords.
